Winter Wonderettes

Manoa Valley Theatre has the antidote to economic woes this holiday season: a sweet shot of old-fashioned Christmas cheer! Winter Wonderettes (the widely produced sequel to the Off Broadway hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes), is on stage November 12 - 29.

It’s 1968 and Christmas time has come to Springfield . The Marvelous Wonderettes, Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy, have been asked to entertain at the Holiday Party for Harper’s Hardware, where Betty Jean has worked since high school. The audience becomes fellow employees, friends and family, the girls have decorated the hardware store, turning it into a winter wonderland, and everyone’s ready to celebrate the season…but alas, news breaks out that Harper’s Hardware is closing! The girls try their best to cheer things up by sharing happy Christmas memories as well as a tribute to Christmas around the world. After a heartfelt serenade to Santa and a happy twist, all ends well.

Songs include “Run, Rudolph, Run,” “Santa Baby,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “O Tannenbaum,” “Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree,” “Mele Kalikimaka,” “Little Saint Nick,” “Winter Wonderland” and many more.
